A Typical Day In The Nursery

This timetable gives you an overview of a typical day within the Nursery. Occasionally unplanned events may occur requiring a change in the routine to make the most of eventuality.

  • 07:30 - 08:00 The nursery opens at 8am but an early start at 730 is available to be booked through the Manager at an extra cost.
  • 08:00 - 09:30 Morning free play session – a range of activities for the children to choose from to promote a range of learning intentions that the practitioners have identified that the children are working towards including book corner, construction, small world, mark making, ICT, creative, puzzles.
  • 09:30 Group time - children sing the good morning song, complete the weather board and share news with practitioners and other children.
  • 10:00 – 10:20 Snack time – time to chat and encourage children’s participation.
  • 11:00 Focus activity for 3 & 4 year olds (Ladybirds) – this includes a variety of activities to help to prepare the children for school including letters and sounds, number activities, focused mark making.
  • 11:00 – 12:00 2 year old physical time – activities include ride along toys, soft play, balls, sand pit, mud kitchen, music and movement. These activities can take place in our outside area, woodland area, sports hall and sports courts. These activities help to encourage fine and gross motor skills.
  • 12:15 – 12:45 Lunch – weekly menu is displayed by parents noticeboard.
  • 12:45 – 13:00 Story time and singing time. Some children leave at 1 and some children arrive at 1.
  • 13:00 - 14:00 3 & 4 year old physical time – activities include ride along toys, soft play, balls, sand pit, mud kitchen, music and movement. These activities can take place in our outside area, woodland area, sports hall and sports courts. These activities help to encourage fine and gross motor skills.
  • 13:00 – 14:30 Afternoon free play session – a range of activities for the children to choose from to promote a range of learning intentions that the practitioners have identified that the children are working towards including book corner, construction, small world, mark making, ICT, creative, puzzles.
  • 14:30 Afternoon snack time followed by story time or dance time before some children leave at 3.
  • 15:15 – 16:00 Outside physical activities to promote fine and gross motor skills.
  • 16:00 - High tea
  • 16:30 – 18:00 Free choice play session
