Nursery Home

We currently have childcare spaces available
and offer up to 30 hours free childcare –
get in touch to find out more!

Parents with 3 and 4 year old children may now be eligible to claim up to 30 hours per week of free childcare. You, and any partner, must each expect to earn on average at least £120 a week. Parents who are on maternity, paternity or adoption leave, unable to work due to disability or caring responsibility could still be eligible.

You can check eligibility and apply through the government’s childcare calculator. Then simply bring your eligibility code and National Insurance number to YMCA South Devon and we’ll do the rest!

Our nursery delivers high quality play environments to stimulate the growth and learning of children two to 5 years old. Our team of qualified, experienced and friendly staff are on hand to promote good outcomes for the children all year round.

We theme and plan our weeks so that activities are varied & relevant. Like any nursery we cover seven areas of learning, using the Early Years Foundation Stage to help form our framework. We observe & document the children’s development using a mixture of paper based techniques and tapestry, a secure online documenting system.

The YMCA once had a nursery for many decades and we’re simply putting it back after a ten year absence began to highlight a gap in the market in our surrounding area. We have had childcare at our Dartmouth Road site since 1994; even whilst we were no longer operating a nursery we had a very successful Playwork, holiday & after school club.

We’re using a purpose built space which has been redeveloped to meet the high standards that any parent or carer would expect of such a childcare setting, during the course of our first open year we have been able to introduce new furniture, resources and amend the spaces addressing our needs and the needs of the children as they became apparent.
