Ofsted

During the Summer Holidays, 2017, we have had our Ofsted inspection. The inspector viewed both the Nursery & Playwork departments to judge how we were working to meet the needs of children & young people in our care.

In our April 2014 inspection we were judged as ‘good’ across the three areas of judgment:

  1. How well the early years provision meets the needs of the range of children who attend
  2. The contribution of the early years provision to the well-being of children
  3. The effectiveness of the leadership and management of the early years provision

We were proud of this achievement & have worked hard since then to maintain our good working practice. In this time we have also opened a Nursery for 2 – 5 year olds, adding this to our existing childcare offering.

Our most recent inspection found that we had maintained a Good grade – now across four areas of judgement:

  1. The effectiveness of leadership & management
  2. Teaching, learning & assessment
  3. Personal development, behaviour & welfare
  4. Children’s outcomes

In summary –

  • Staff are good role models who provide children with constant praise and encouragement. Children behave well, and are happy and settled. They display good levels of confidence and self-esteem.
  • Children who have special educational needs and/or disabilities receive good support from the passionate and knowledgeable staff, who work closely with other professionals to support children’s needs. Staff target planning to children’s needs so that all children make good progress from their starting points.
  • Partnerships with parents and other settings are strong. There are many opportunities for parents and other settings to be involved with children’s learning and development using the online system.
  • The dedicated manager reflects on the quality of service well. He considers the views of staff, parents and children when evaluating the success of any changes and when planning future improvements.
